Omdat de bovenstaande Audio aan de trage kant is heb ik de opname met audacity wat sneller gezet, zodat het meer overeenkomt met de bedoeling van de compositie.
Because the audio above is on the slow side, I've speeded up the recording with Audacity a little bit in order to make it more in line with the intention of the composition.

In mei 2024 kreeg ik het idee voor een nieuw stuk voor viool en piano, voor mijn muzikale partner, de violist Thomas Patijn.

Het moest een stuk worden, geïnspireerd door de maand mei, met haar bloeiende en geurende bloemen, haar kleureneuforie,

Misschien wel geïnspireerd door de kastelenreis die ik maakte naar o.a. de kastelentuin van kasteel Twickel, waar een orgie van bloeiende bloemen, rododendrons, geuren en vogelgezang was te beleven.

Ook andere wandelingen voeren naar prachtige plekken waar je erg vrolijk van werd,
bv. de zonnige euforie van het bloeiende, juichende fluitenkruid, zoals op de dijk rondom kasteel Berg, in ’s Heerenberg.

Ook bezochten we nog de bollenstreek met de bloeiende tulpen.

In May 2024 I got the idea for a new piece for violin and piano, for my musical partner, the violinist Thomas Patijn.

It had to be a piece inspired by the month of May, with its blooming and fragrant flowers, its colorful euphoria, and the jubilant birdsong, of the cheerful month of May.

Perhaps inspired by the castle trip I made to, among others, the castle garden of Twickel Castle, where an orgy of blooming flowers, rhododendrons, scents and birdsong could be experienced.

Other walks also lead to beautiful places that made you very happy, e.g. the sunny euphoria of the blooming, jubilant cow parsley, such as on the dike around Berg Castle, in 's Heerenberg.

Ik wilde een stuk in G groot maken, de toonsoort van de Stier, de vrolijke lentetoonsoort van de prachtige meimaand...

En ik wilde een JIG maken, een bruisend en vitaal stuk in 6/8 maat, met het vuur en het enthousiasme van de euforie van de lentetijd en de pinkstertijd, met het enthousiasme van de windvlaag en de vurige tongen, wat ik in een eerder stuk had uitgebeeld,

wat ik schreef voor de mensenwijdingsdienst van de Christengemeenschap, wat ik uitvoerde op de derde Pinksterdienst, dinsdag 21 mei.

I wanted to make a piece in G major, the key of Taurus, the cheerful spring key of the beautiful month of May...

And I wanted to make a JIG, a vibrant and vital piece in 6/8 time, with the fire and enthusiasm of the euphoria of springtime and Pentecost, with the enthusiasm of the gust of wind and the fiery tongues, which I had depicted in an earlier piece, which I wrote for the consecration service of the Christian Community, which I performed at the third Pentecost service, Tuesday 21 May.

Het werk lijkt qua stijl op de Keltische Fantasie, en het staat voornamelijk in G mixolydisch, het is bijna 6 minuten, 10 bladzijden lang, snelle, opwindende muziek, zonder rustig middendeel, een niet aflatende euforie en vitaliteit van lentevreugde...

Het leek me ook echt een leuk stuk voor Thomas Patijn, omdat hij gek is op dit soort volksmuziek / Keltische muziek.

We speelden al eerder samen mijn Keltische fantasie, ook een zeer opwindend, vitaal stuk, maar dat staat in C, de Ram-mars-toonsoort.

Dat eindigt ook met een JIG, maar dat is een variatievorm van een steeds herhalend motief.
Dat is hier heel anders, en de toonsoort G groot / myxolydisch is lichter en minder agressief als C groot.

The work resembles the Celtic Fantasy in style, and it is mainly in G mixolydian, it is almost 6 minutes, 10 pages long, fast, exciting music, without a quiet middle section, an unceasing euphoria and vitality of spring joy...

It also seemed like a really nice piece for Thomas Patijn, because he loves this kind of folk music / Celtic music.

We played my Celtic fantasy together before, also a very exciting, vital piece, but that is in C, the Ram/Aries-Mars-march key.

That is very different here, and the key G major / myxolydian is lighter and less aggressive than C major.

Opvallend is dat het slotgedeelte ander thematisch materiaal gebruikt als het hele begingedeelte, omdat het slot gedeelte naar een steeds heftiger apotheose toe voert, en het begin motief is dan wellicht voldoende aan bod geweest.

Het begin motief komt alleen even terug vlak voor het slot in de bas.

It is striking that the final section uses different thematic material than the entire opening section, because the final section leads to an increasingly intense apotheosis, and the opening motif may have been sufficiently addressed.

The opening motif only returns briefly just before the end in the bass.

Het werk is ook geschikt om te instrumenteren voor blaasorkest.

In de lente en de zomer van 2024 heb ik mij bezig gehouden met het instrumenteren van de Jig voor blaasorkest, voor harmonie- en Fanfare-orkest, en daarna met het uitschrijven van de orkest-partijen.

In the spring and summer of 2024 I worked on instrumenting the Jig for wind orchestra, for harmony and fanfare orchestra, and then on writing out the orchestral parts, which was finished in October ’24.
